    This course provides the skills and knowledge to be able to handle cardiac emergency situations.

    It includes:

    + Introduction to first aid principles

    + Assessing a cardiac emergency situation

    + Airway and breathing management

    + Performing chest compressions

    + Administering rescue breaths

    + Infection control procedures

    + Resuscitation techniques

    + Using a defibrillator (AED)

    + AED maintenance

  • $150 per person

    This course provides the skills and knowledge required to provide first aid response, life support, management of casualty(s), the incident and other first aiders until the arrival of medical or other assistance.

    Topics include:

    + Assessing an emergency situation

    + Airway and breathing management, including choking and drowning

    + CPR techniques, defibrillation and AED safety and maintenance

    + First Aid management of the unconscious casualty

    + Medical conditions including cardiac, stroke, diabetes & seizures

    + Automated External Defibrillation

    This course covers the provision of advanced first aid response, life support, management of casualties, the incident and other first aiders, until the arrival of medical or other assistance.

    + Safe use of an defibrillator (AED)

    + Bleeding control, tourniquets and haemostatic dressings

    + Fractures, burns and other trauma

    + Eye and soft tissue injuries

    + Envenomation / Poisoning

    + Hyperthermia and hypothermia

    + Treatment of minor wounds

    + Infection control procedures

    + Secondary survey casualty assessment

    + Assessment of vital signs

    + Coordinating first aid activities

    + Triage of multiple casualties

    + Evaluation of response to critical incidents

    + Verbal and written reports of the incident

    + Legislative requirements in first aid

    + Review of contingency planning

  • $300 per person (pre-requisite of HLTAID011 required)

    This unit covers the skills and knowledge to use specialised equipment to provide resuscitation in a range of complex situations, including community and workplace settings.

    It includes:

    + Management of life-threatening bleeding using tourniquets and haemostatic dressings

    + Suctioning of the airway

    + Use of oropharyngeal airway devices

    + Benefits and contraindications for oxygen administration

    + Safe procedures for medical oxygen equipment

    + Administering oxygen therapy

    + Resuscitation using bag-valve-mask with oxygen

    + Safety procedures for AEDs

    + Administering defibrillation

    + Checks and maintenance of resuscitation equipment
